The history of KMP AG begins in 1988 in Eggenfelden, Bavaria. Here, Heinz G. Sieg founded the company as a small GmbH – with the aim of producing compatible printer accessories that impress in terms of quality and performance. What started with three employees at the time has continued to develop thanks to a great deal of passion, technical know-how and entrepreneurial vision.
With the achievement of a market-leading position as a full-range supplier, KMP became a public limited company in 1999, an important step in the company’s development. Under the joint management of Heinz G. Sieg and his son Jan-Michael Sieg, the family business grew into one of the leading suppliers in Europe – today with over 500 employees who have supported this path for many years.
The product portfolio has also developed over time: a pure ribbon manufacturer became a company that focused on new printing technologies early and decisively. Laser and InkJet printers became the core of the product world, and ink cartridges and toner cartridges now account for the majority of sales.
A key feature of the company’s DNA is the exceptionally high level of vertical integration. Many production and development steps take place under one roof – an advantage that makes KMP more independent of suppliers and enables particularly high product safety.
The company began its internationalization as early as 1990. With the establishment of its first subsidiaries, KMP strengthened its presence in Europe and is now represented in France, Poland, Portugal, Romania and the Czech Republic in addition to Germany. This expansion underlines the ambition to work closely with the market and the needs of trading partners.
What still characterizes KMP today is a clear attitude: loyalty to specialist retailers, manufacturing expertise and a consistent brand policy. Behind this is a strong team that contributes to the satisfaction of business partners with a comprehensive service concept, technical expertise and an agile research and development department.
KMP has thus been a family business for almost four decades, combining tradition with vision – and still pursuing the goal of developing high-quality printing solutions that impress.
